2018 College Council Election Results

Districts 3, 4 and 8 recently elected five members to the Council of the College of Early Childhood Educators for a three-year term. As members of the 24-person Council governing the College, they will oversee policy development and make decisions related to entry to practice requirements, ethical and professional standards, professional misconduct, incompetence and incapacity. Please join the College in congratulating its five new Council members shown below and in thanking all members who participated in this year’s election.

 

Gillian Jackson RECE – District 3

Gillian Jackson works for Kids Inclusive Centre for Child & Youth Development in Kingston, where her focus is on special needs strategy. “I will be a contributing voice to support the continued development of our valuable and important sector for the health and well-being of children, families and communities.”

Stacey Lepine RECE – District 4

Stacey Lepine works for the Durham District School Board, and brings over 30 years of experience in the profession to her second term on Council. Her career focus has been leadership and management of early years programs and services. “I thank you for awarding me with this opportunity. I will continue to give voice to protecting the public interest while also elevating understanding of what it means to practice as an RECE in Ontario.”

Kim White RECE – District 4

Kim White works for the Ontario Early Years Centre, Haliburton Victoria Brock. She has worked with children and families in child care centres, a nursery school, school boards and family resource centres, primarily in rural settings. “I am honoured to serve as a Council member. I have worked with children and families for many years in a variety of capacities, and I will bring this experience to my work on Council.”

Karen Kennedy RECE – District 8

Karen Kennedy works for the Child Care and Early Years Division of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. She supports children and families through the EarlyON Child and Family Centre in Chatham-Kent and is highly involved in the community. “I am thrilled to be a part of the 2018 Council. Building relationships is at the core of my daily practice and I strongly believe that each day I can contribute, and make a difference.”

Teresa Sulowski RECE – District 8

Teresa Sulowski works for the London District Catholic School Board and brings experience as both an educator and manager in licensed child care, education and teaching to the 2018 Council. “As a lifelong mentor, it is an honour and privilege to serve on the College’s Council.”

The College membership is divided into eight electoral districts that represent geographic areas of Ontario. Each district holds an election every three years and not all districts have elections at the same time.
