Discussion with the Fairness Commissioner of Ontario
Council welcomed the Fairness Commissioner of Ontario, Irwin Glasberg. He gave a presentation about the Office of the Fairness Commissioner’s (OFC) mandate to ensure that professional regulators adhere to fair registration practices.
In recent years, the OFC began to use a risk-informed compliance approach to assess each regulator’s ability to achieve better registration outcomes for applicants. The OFC considers a regulators’ organizational capacity, registration practices, compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, and engagement on public policy issues including workforce shortages and equity, diversity and inclusion.
The OFC has assigned the College to its lowest-risk category and congratulated the College on its work to continuously enhance registration practices and its innovative work in supporting internationally trained applicants to meet the requirements for registration in Ontario.
Farewells to Departing Council Members
Council said farewell to the Council members whose terms are ending this year. Council will welcome newly-elected members in June!
